Over 85 Reasons For Me to Get Organized and Help You Build a Better Life

Ever find a specific part of your life in disarray?

I’d consider myself a fairly organized person by nature.

But even I let things slip from time to time.

One of the goals I had at the beginning of the year was to organize my writing on my website.

For the longest time, I was only publishing to the weekly email version. Meaning there was no way for anyone outside of the newsletter to find past issues.

Behind the Scenes Organization

It takes anywhere from 2-4 hours a week (sometimes longer) to research, draft, edit, and publish a new issue of the SideNotes newsletter. In an effort to make sure that valuable content is available to all, I finally sat down and spent the last couple weeks getting hyper organized.

The problem: The process took far longer than I expected. What I thought would be done in January was done in June. (Thanks, Hofstadter's Law! 🤣)

On average, a post took 15-20 minutes to reorganize, find past photos, upload, format, and publish again on the website.

With nearly 60 essays not on the website, I’d rather not admit how long it actually took. 😅

4 Steps to Getting a 2-Year Backlog of Posts Updated on a Website

  • Step 1

I took every past issue of SideNotes and added it to a blog feed on mikelavalley.com (Over 85 essays)

  • Step 2

    I organized them by category.

  • Step 3

I created a singular landing page where you can find everything and sift through them all at your leisure.

  • Step 4

I drove to my favorite local coffee spot and ordered a large, medium roast, iced coffee with orange chocolate.*

SideNotes: Reloaded

Now you can easily find all of the past essays here at: www.mikelavalley.com/sidenotes

I’m excited that these are finally available to all. And although the process was definitely a time to get them up on the site, it was 100% worth it.

While I think these will be quite valuable to you, Dear Reader, one of the benefits for me personally going through all of the posts was seeing the evolution of my writing over the past few years.

  • I’ve written about self-development, to burnout, to goal setting, to productivity, to mindset, to creative life, and everything in between.

  • I’ve been developing my creative voice and sharing what I can to help you build a better life in the process.

I hope you enjoy the content. 😎

Thank you for allowing me to serve you.

TL; DR

  • Past issues of SideNotes were difficult to find

  • All issues are now at mikelavalley.com/sidenotes

  • Getting organized is highly rewarding

*Every productivity success deserves an orange chocolate iced coffee. Don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise.

Quote of the Week

That's all for now.
