A New Beginning

On October 13, 2015, I launched a blog called Evolving Architect. It all started with a simple idea—share my thoughts on what it means to be an Architect today. Now, I’m starting over.

Over time, it grew into a robust platform to help young architects, emerging professionals, and ambitious creatives evolve their own careers and lives.

I wrote essays, created courses, and spoke about topics that directly impacted their lives. I met new friends and built lasting relationships. I found a community that enjoyed the content I created and who I connected with as a practicing architect.

The Changing Tides

In Spring 2017, I collided head-on with burnout. I had worn myself out and needed a change. I went on a creative hiatus for nearly a year while searched for who I was and who I wanted to become.

From 2018 through early 2021, I experimented with a variety of ways to bring the magic back to the site. But in the end, I realized a new, simple idea—I had become more interested in writing about the broader topics of self-development than about architecture alone.

I began to struggle with the content I was making for Evolving Architect because it didn’t quite align with who I was becoming. Through my own self-development, I realized that I am more than any single part of my identity—an architect, a writer, a creator, a nerd, a human being. I am all of these things.

In my search for ways to help my community evolve, I had evolved as well.

Independence Day

Now, on July 4th, 2021, I write the first page of a new chapter in my creative life.

In a sense, this is my Independence Day. (Queue Bill Pullman)

It’s my opportunity to start over and create something different.

I will always appreciate my time with Evolving Architect. It taught me so much about myself. It connected me with so many amazing people who I’d never known existed without it. It helped me recognize that being an Architect is a superpower that can help those beyond the architecture community just as much as those within.

In the coming weeks and months, I’ll begin this new journey through writing. I’ll explore how we can design more meaning into our lives and create the futures we’ve always dreamed of for ourselves. My only requirement, write what feels true to me.

Side Note: Some of the “Classic” content from Evolving Architect has made its way over to this new site. Check them out for some epic remixes and free ebooks.

Just as I was that cool October morning at the beginning of one journey, I’m excited to see where this new journey takes me.

I’d be honored if join me on the adventure.

Thanks for being awesome.
